The women's twelve on this site descend from her goddess archetypes rather than from Pearson's set.
Bolen mapped Jungian archetypes onto the Greek goddesses, arguing that figures like Artemis, Athena, Hera and Aphrodite describe recognisable and durable patterns in how women actually live rather than a set of roles handed down to them.
It is a different lineage from Pearson's twelve and it shows: the figures are older, less tidy and considerably less marketable. Our women's set takes its shape from this tradition, which is why several of them carry names, like the Huntress and the Wild Woman, that have no counterpart in the brand-facing version.
